Wrosby Wasn't Always a Mouse...

Wrosby was born in the autumn of 1989, when I was only eight years old. While I had always had plans to use him in a written format, my original intentions were for wrosby and his then-brother, Kenny, to star in a videogame series. While there have been many changes to Wrosby over the years, perhaps the biggest between the Wrosby that exists in 2006 and the Wrosby that existed almost two decades ago is the fact that the earlier Wrosby was a human.

Circa 1989: Wrosby Reading a Book

In this original drawing here, long before Wrosby donned large ears, whiskers, and a tail, he was a young man on a mission to fight off menacing enemies with his brother, Kenny (not pictured here), in a videogame. In the picture above, Wrosby is reading a book in "Read Zone," my conception of a pro-reading campaign that I had hopes of launching in the day.

The Birth of the McMice Family

Not long after becoming a mouse, I soon decided that Wrosby neded to have a family with whom he could go on adventures. By the summer of 1990, Wrosby became married and was soon the father of a boy and girl. Though his family members' names and ages have changed over the years, Wrosby is now the husband of Jennifer (whom declines to disclose her age), fifteen-year-old Smart, and thirteen-year-old Riley.

The McMice Family Today

Without a doubt, the McMice family has grown from being a set of adjunct characters years ago to now being as integral to my Wrosby-themed works as Wrosby himself. Wrosby has matured well from being the proposed young superhero of a videogame series to the middle-aged father and husband that he is today. Jennifer is absolutely as much a "hero" as Wrosby ever was, for she plays the role of loving and caring mother and wife. Finally, one cannot overstate the importance of Smart and Riley in the McMice clan. They are the apples of Wrosby and Jennifer's eyes and are absolutely vital to many of the storylines that have been written for the McMice family since the inception of the clan.

...But He Soon Became One

Unsatisfied with the physical form Wrosby's human likeness took on, in the spring of 1990, I decided to convert Wrosby into the body of a mouse. Though biped in nature, Wrosby's large, round ears, whiskers, and soon-to-be-added tail most certainly defined him as a mouse.

Wrosby in 1990

Unquestionably mouse-like in form, Wrosby has remained a mouse since the start of the 1990s.

The McMice Family in 2006

The McMice family today---a true clan of mice who love each other and have matured beautifully over the years. There are certainly many exciting adventures of all sorts in store for this group.
